The Morgan Family was established in 2003.  In 2004, we decided that we wanted to do something to help out the local humane society.  Why?  Because of this princess right here.  The great Lucy.

We decided that every house needed a dog like Lucy and every dog deserved a house like ours.  Warm, comfortable and with too many toys.  Lucy passed away on September 20, 2014.  3 days after she turned 17.  While we were pretty sure our hearts would never heal from this, we also realized that we are not good people without an animal in the house.  So, we lost our minds and got two cats.  Meet the insane duo of Itchy and Scratchy.

In 2012, we added the Light A Candle foundation through Gritman Medical.  This foundation helps cancer patients in Whitman and Latah counties with expenses that insurance doesn't cover - gas cards, a new laptop to Skype with your family, help paying your Avista bill - things that are tough when you're trying to cover the costs of cancer treatment, also.  We began to split the proceeds of the tournament between these two organizations.  In 2018, our same friends that started LAC began a new foundation called NW Cancer Foundation of Hope, that helped in the same ways that LAC did.  We then began helping NW Hope that year.

We barely squeaked the tournament in before the world shut down in 2020.  During 2021 and 2022 we asked folks to send us money directly.  And they did!  Between that generosity and that of our friend Michael Bryant's 24 hour livestreaming event, we managed to still help our friends at WCHS and NWCFH.  Because you know what doesn't stop during a pandemic?  Cancer.  And feeding animals.

In the first 19 years of this fundraiser, it has raised:

$35,909 for Light A Candle

$46,589 for NW Hope

$105,008 for Whitman County Humane Society

Grand Total:  $187,507

Do we have the best friends and family in the world, or what?

All because we LOVE animals and we HATE cancer!
